understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
We attended a summer fete at my husbands place of work, we took a photo of our 5year old son playing in a paddling pool along with some other children. In the picture my son is sat next to a girl of the same age and they seem to be gazing into each others eye's.Years later my son showed his girlfriend some childhood photo's and to his astonishment she asked him how have you got a photo of me as a child, the penny then dropped as he realized the girl in the photo he was gazing at was in fact his girlfriend.
After taking the photo to show her parents they were amazed when they produced the same photo taken from a different angle.
