understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I am a great reader and I also have radio 4 on most of the time. Many, many times I have found myself reading a word which is simultaneously being used on the radio. I have given up keeping a record of this but it must happen at least twice a week. The words are not carrier (?) words but nouns, verbs, etc. and sometimes quite unusual. This morning, for example, I was reading the word 'witness' when I heard it simultaneously on the radio. I would love to know if anyone else has had this experience and also whether you regard this as an example of a coincidence or some other phenomenon.
