Were we supposed to meet?

understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
What were the odds that a girl from New York State and a guy from Seattle, WA, would meet in passing far from our homes, fall in love, then find out months later that our relatives had the same occupations? His grandfather and father were professional photographers, and my grandfather and father were professional photographers as well. I was a photojournalist with my own photography studio when we met and he loved photography as well. We always thought it was an interesting coincidence.
