understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
In 1983 my husband was killed in a R.T.A. in Germany while serving in the RAF.
In 1992 on my way home from Euro Disney on a bus I started talking to the man opposite as all our travelling companions had fallen asleep, It turned out that he was the military policeman who attended the accident and a colleague of my late husbands.
