A small world
As of the 23rd May 2022 this website is archived and will receive no further updates.
understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I've experienced two coincidences whilst on my travels:
1. In China got talking to someone on the same tour who was a best friend of a girl who was my best friend in school (who had subsequently married and moved to Singapore). Hadn't seen my friend for about 20 years. We wrote her a joint postcard from Bejing!
2. Whilst in India, met some people who were very good friends of our next door neighbour.
