understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I travelled by coach from Limerick to London and took with me a copy of "the Name of the Rose" to pass the time. I left the book, by accident, unfinished, on the bus on arrival in London. Approximately 3 months later I did the return trip. When I sat in my seat, there in the pouch at the back of the seat in front of me, was a different copy (different cover), of the same book. I got to finish it on the way to Limerick.
