understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I was recently issued a randomly assigned 4-digit PIN number that was identical to another recently assigned random PIN. They were assigned for different purposes by different companies (I.e they are not both for credit cards or banking).
Even if both companies eliminate some combinations from the pool of available numbers in the same way I find it a coincidence that the same number was issued to me twice at the same time.
