understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
In the late 1960s I was sitting in Nottingham Eye hospital with waiting for my injury to be attended to, when the clerk came out and called "Mr Teale", and the man next to me got up as well. We have never met before or since; I was originally from Worcesterhire, and he was from Hucknall.
Same name, same place, same injury.
