understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I've just found out that a guy who I became friends with while doing casual shifts in a newsroom at work eight years' ago, actually lived in the house I lived in Gosforth seven years before I did. He lived in the same annex and was there by chance as there was no where else for him to go when he temporarily needed a home. I was there as a trainee journalist in 2004. I've just started working with him in the same department and only found this out. I was telling someone at work about living in Newcastle, when my friend overheard our conversation and shouted out the name of the dog - which I'd forgotten.
