understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
While playing bridge at Bristol Bridge Club. i happened to ask my partner when her birthday was - yes - you guessed it - same as mine April 18th.
An even bigger coincidence was the people we were playing against heard the converstaion and one of them said her birthday was the same. there were 20 odd tables playing that night and we as E/ W move around after every few hands. What is the coincidence of asking that question at that table !!
