Reunited

As of the 23rd May 2022 this website is archived and will receive no further updates.

understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

I am a clockmaker, who volunteered at a school.A chance meeting with an ex headteacher, he brought me an English silver pair cased verge watch.I told him the outer case was missing but thought I had one that may fit,and sure enough I had. when I compared the makers mark and hallmarks they were identical. When i came to clean them the name Manley was scratched inside both. He said Manley was his wifes maiden name ,they had owned the watch for some 50 years. They came from London, I live in Maidstone, I bought the scrap case from the effects of a deceased watchmaker in Chatham,So the are now reunited. What are the chances of that. I do have photo's.
