understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

Hi I have had several instances where I bump into other people wearing the same clothes as me, so much so that I now alter my clothes to make then different and am very tempted to start making my own, so that way no-one will have the same top/coat/trousers/dress as me! This instances that I remember of hand are as follows: 1) Visiting a restuarant, the woman behind me has then same coat on as me 2) A work Christmas do and another woman was wearing the same dress (very embarrising) 3) A holiday to centre parks and walked past a lady wearing the same hoodie as me. 4) Getting on a train on the london underground and a woman already in the carriage was wearing the same top (this particular top was not new and several years old) 5) At least 5 different instances over the past 10 years when I have gone to work to find another colleague wearing the same top/dress. 6) Walking out of the flat building and meeting another tennant of the building also wearing the same jumper 7) Going to a summer party and seeing another woman in the same dress (again this dress was also several years old) I would like to point out that I dont buy new clothes very often and prefer to buy well made items which will last me a while and still stay in fashion. I could understand it more if i bought new clothes regularly from typacial clothes stores (such as Primark, DP, Next) but dont really. At first this was just occasionally embarresing but now if something which is constantly on my mind when deciding what to wear!
