understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I was living in Florence, Italy (am a Londoner) and went on holiday to Siracusa, Sicily. On the train and in my hotel I read and finished Aldous Huxley's Eyeless in Gaza. In the morning I went to a bar for breakfast and overheard two Italian men leaning on the bar saying in Italian "it was all very well what Huxley was saying in the 1930s"!
