meeting people you know in the Street.

understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

I have the strange ability to meet people I know in the street almost anywhere by complete chance. The strangest being when I meet a person who lived in the same university residence as I did as 1st year undergraduates in St Andrews in the street in New York City at about 10.30pm. I had a particularly bright yellow back pack and she had a bright blue hoodie - we recognised each other right away even in a crowd!
