understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

I get these all the time, sometimes it can be a repeition of a word within minutes. I've just had the word 'Echo' come to me twice this morning. I make a note of mine to keep track as they happen so much Other examples are hearing Crown court( (70's lunchtime telly) mentioned one day on telly and then the following morning my boss mentions it when he's reminiscing about school dinners. I do a facebook music page and it's someone's birthday in the morning then hear a track of theirs later on. that happens a lot, I listen to music usually on my ipod rather than the radio and that's on shuffle so randomly plays what it wants (over 11,000 songs on there so it's a big thing to sample from). Wednesday someone was back in work after a week off and had a grown a beard and one of the lads said he was out of Braveheart (he's Scottish) and that film was on last night. I read an article about Len Goodman in sat's Telegraph but didn't read it till sunday morning (I'd taken a travel pill so could read in the car which I normally can't do) then Sunday night I finished a book and he was mentioned right at the end. It was a novel not a biography so it was very random and he hadn't been mentioned before then. I've read more of the Alan Sugar biography since then (had it for Christmas and it's a slow read) for a few pages the night before last and he mentioned the airfield we were at on Sunday for my partner's 50th birthday present (helicopter flight over London). When we were on our way down to Southend I was emailing the shift leader in work as we'd had a major problem. His name was Ray Hadley, as I sent the email (on my phone) I looked up and saw a road sign saying RAYLEIGH HADLEIGH on the next exit off the A13. I know that's a lame link but it said Ray Hadley to me.
