understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

In 2008, Adrienne was a student at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas and went to Florence, Italy for a 6 week study abroad program. Kathryn, a student at George Washington University, enrolled in the same course and they were room mates during the six week stay in Florence. Adrienne was born and raised in Northwest Kansas. Jill, was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. After the six week study abroad program ended, neither girl contacted each other. September 12, 2015, Adrienne married Austin and they went to Sandals Emerald Bay Great Exuma in the Bahamas for their honeymoon. While at the pool, Adrienne saw a girl that looked familiar and she approached the girl and asked her if her name was Kathryn. Yes, it was Kathryn. Both girls were married on the same day and chose the same destination for their honeymoon. What are those odds?
