understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I needed a number plate for a caravan. I went to the local accessories place and there it was - already made up and stood against the shelf of the shop.
Apparently, they had made it up by mistake when they saw a piece of paper with my number on - I had bought another plate from the place some time before.
What is really neat is that they hadn't thrown it away AND I wanted it !
