understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
On at least 11 separate occassions I have found objects I knew to be there, all of them ancient artifacts, simply by knowing they would be there. I didn't know exactly what they would be except they would be artifacts.
EX. While driving down the road I became aware of something in the river a mile or so away, I told the person I was with there was an artifact over there and left the freeway, traveled down a service road, parked and told this person it was right over there. The person volunteered to retrieve the object and entered the water following my direction walked about a hundred feet into the river. When they came to the location I told him to bend down and pick up the stone next to their left hand, I said no the one next to it and they came up with an ancient net weight.
On another occassion my sister-in-law was searching for artifacts while her husband and I fished, she gave up and said "I really wanted to find one". I pointed about fifty feet away and she retrieved another ancient net weight.
I found an arrow head in a park they were building across the street from my house after something told me There was an artifact there, for three days I resisted the feeling, then got up walked across the street and directly to an ancient arrow head. The same feeling told me there were no more but I searched for three more days to no avail.
Another time my son and I went fishing and as we approached the site I got the feeling there was an artifact just past the entrance to the fishing hole, so I drove past and down the road I pointed at an ancient Native bowl burried in a sand mound.
I could go on but you get the idea.
I have no control over this and it has never been unsuccessful.
