An epiphanic experience

understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

I was reading a Robert Graves novel - it nay have been 'King Jesus' - and was listening to Mendelssohn's 'Hebrides Overture' (otherwise known as Fingal's Cave) through earphones. Robert graves is a magnificent author and just reading the book alone is enought to transport you into another world. I was at he part where Jesus is in the cave approaching the Witch of Endor, a spooky episode already, and the music reached a climactic and dramatic crescendo at exactly the same moment. I nearly fell off my chair I was so excited!
