understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
On 10th January '13 I was reading an article in the current RSPB magazine about an Elm Tree . I've been busy and not had much time to read .The next day my husband brought home a box of old books from his mother's home which had been in the family since her grandfather's day . Out of curiosity I picked up a few pages which had come detached from what must have been a big volume . I read one page a story turned over and there was an article on ---- Yes "The Elm Tree" . The article was from "Boys of England" which according to Wickipedia was published between 1866-1899 .
Both articles had an almost identical black and white illustration in the same position on the page .
