understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
On May 17th 2003 I went to the cup final at the Milleniun Stadium my seat was in the Arsenal area ticket was row 17 seat no 4.
That evening we went to the city centre for a meal. On the pavement I noticed a cup final ticket stub and picked it up.
The row and seat number looked familiar.
Returning to my hotel later I compared the two ticket stubs and to my amazement the ticket stub I had found was row 17 seat 4 in the Southampton area.
I have just had a shudder writing this I still find it so spookey. I still have the tickets.
