Coincidence within your website?
As of the 23rd May 2022 this website is archived and will receive no further updates.
understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I started reading the stories on your website. I got to the sixth listed one about a 'train of events' by Stephen Senn (I might have stopped at about 10 stories so wouldn't have read it if it had come further down). I used to go to the same school in the Alpine village where Stephen's parents taught. I also went like him to a West of England university (Bristol) but 6 years later. I also used to come back by train at the end of term like him to where my parents lived in Switzerland - this was a few stops before the one Stephen got off. Is this all a coincidence? Well I did get to your website by clicking on a few different links, but I was looking for information about risk education so it wasn't random. I was drawn towards it. This seems to happen fairly often.
