understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
We live in France. My brother and his family live in Somerset.Unannounced my husband decided to take a trip to visit his family in Scotland and for the first time travelled as a foot passenger. As he settled down in the train after it's stop at Reading our sister in law came and took the only seat opposite him!She just stared, disbelieving before saying "I know it's you but what are you doing here, you live in France"! They chatted and laughed upto London before saying goodbye and going their seperate ways. 30minutes later they realised they were sitting next to each other on the underground train! What are the chances of not one but two meetings like this!
