understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
Twelve people in a room on a course. Briefly asked to form into six pairs. One woman suddenly leaves and goes home, leaving me stranded. I'm paired with someone else while facilitator takes on the spare person. Then we're asked to find out the birthdate of our paired person. Mine is 17.1.1936. Hers is 17.1.1963. Each set of numbers add up to 10.
Unlikely but true.
