understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
Between 2000 and 2001 I worked for a company who provided staff accommodation in an old hotel just off the sea front in Cromer.
When I visited Cromer in 2013 with my wife, she mentioned that when she was little she had come to Cromer on holiday three times and stayed at the same hotel each time.
When she showed me the building it was, of course, the same building.
