understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

When I was single and doing online dating, two of my "serious" girlfriends happened to have the same first name and the same street number, on parallel streets just two blocks apart. This was from a pool of just four sustained relationships within a period of eight years. I didn't know their names or addresses before we started going out. PS: I married the second one! :-)
