Hi David, My name's Lizzie. Two coincidences have happened to me just this morning within the space of 30 minutes. I'm pretty used to coincidences happening to me, but often they're just as black and white as a lot of coincidences that happen to others - I wish mine were as simple as the birthday coincidences! Here's my story. This morning I decided to watch an episode of one of my favourites TV shows, New Girl. I decided to rewatch the entire series about three weeks ago, which makes this coincidence a lot more complex due to the fact that had any other variable intervened, I would not have watched this specific episode today. First off, before turning on the episode I was listening to a cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'I'm on Fire' where one of the lines reads 'freight train'. I was particularly drawn to the word 'freight' and I realised I had been pronouncing it wrong until I heard this song. Therefore, already I was focusing on the word 'freight'. Then, when I turned on this episode of New Girl, one of the main characters' first lines was 'I feel like a freight train'. I could barely believe it. Only minutes before I had been listening to this song that included a word I had been pronouncing incorrectly, and then the episode I was watching said that word. Obviously, I immediately freaked out and informed my best friend, who also experiences weird coincidences like I do. However, as I continued to innocently watch this episode, two other characters start to sing Africa by Toto. And just as they begin to sing the song in the New Girl episode, I open up Facebook on my phone and the first shared post that comes up is a meme containing the song's album cover Africa by Toto. This completely stunned me because in one episode of New Girl, two major coincidences happened. Had I not decided to listen to the cover of 'I'm on Fire' before watching the episode, I would have thought nothing of the word 'freight', and had I not decided to check Facebook at that exact moment, I would not have been so stunned by the impossibility of there being such a match between New Girl and a Facebook post. What makes this coincidence even weirder is the fact that the song Africa by Toto has gained popularity recently, with people making jokes about it. So I understand why the Facebook post would be there, however why is it that I happened to decide rewatch New Girl a few weeks ago so that when it came to me watching this episode, it was the same moment as when that Facebook post was shared. This isn't a random occurrence to me, I often feel haunted by coincidences, and I'm also a person who experiences a lot of deja vu. This may not be useful to you, but it's certainly a story worth telling. Hope you enjoyed it, Lizzie
