understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
I was introduced to a film a few weeks ago called 'They Live' by the film buff in my office (he's a videographer 'coincidentally').
I'd never heard or seen anything of this film before, and thought it was an interesting perspective about modern life (at the time, probably still relevant today).
So, i'm a Graphic Designer and subscribe to a daily design 'inspiration' website, who email their latest findings in a newsletter each day, using the entire internet as their resource to find new and interesting work.
I was scrolling through today's newsletter when I came across a modern version of a poster design for that very film. Nothing earth shattering, but considering it was produced in 1988 and there haven't been any remakes or advertising for this film recently, it was surprising to see someone creating a new design for this, and out of the many inspiration emails I haven't opened for weeks, I opened this one.
