understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
A friend texted me that he was about to take off from San Francisco Airport -- airport code SFO. I replied: SFO -- what a coincidence, I had (really) sfogliatella for lunch dessert.
OK, this is hardly a supernatural event -- just interesting/funny that I had that dessert (which before that day I'd barely heard of and could surely not spell!) starting with his airport code.
