understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
My first name is Ursula (which is not a fun time when you were born post-Little Mermaid). I have met two other Ursulas in my life. One of them was driving the boat for a Little Mermaid ride at DisneyLand; she gave me her pin with our name on it. The other Ursula I met was while I was swimming in the ocean, snorkling over a reef. Both very obviously connect to the movie. It's like the only place I can meet Ursulas.
I also have a friend named Ariel, who has lovely red hair.
Additionally, my father told me that if he hadn’t named me Ursula, he would have named me Elsa.
