Ever since I came back from college a few weeks ago and re-united with my friends from home, weird things have been happening. The more I think about it- everything that happened in the first two weeks I was back was a complete blur, except for the fatal incident where my cousin Zach had gone out on a run and fell off a cliff to his death. These past couple weeks had just vanished from my mind- as if they never even happened. But then the other day a 17 year old girl got in a horrible car accident in Altamont and died- Alyssa Gelfand- who happens to be Alex Gelfand’s cousin. There were two other passengers in the car, but they both survived. After hearing about this incident a day before being in Lake George, before she was pronounced dead, my friends and I- Michelle, Steph, Langston, and Ian were on our way back from the lake and were stopped in dead traffic due to a horrific accident. This may just sound like a coincident, but there’s more. After being home from the lake, it got super weird. We would all begin to talk at the same time, say the same words, or say the same ideas all at the same time without any cues or indications. We convinced each other that it was just since we spend so much time together. But wait- there’s more. I’m standing on my back porch with my friend Liam- about to rip my bong, and Kyleigh silently walks out the sliding glass door onto the porch to join us. I begin singing Body Like a Backroad by Sam Hunt “goin’ 15 in a 30, I ain’t in no hurry”, and Kyleigh immediately gives me a look. “I was just singing that song in my head…” she said. No joke. 2 Seconds before I had started singing it. After talking about how fucking weird and telepathic it was, we went on with our day. The next day, we go to pick up Danielle. We get in the car and I say to Kyleigh- “I want to hear that Luke Bryan song” (talking about Body Like a Backroad- but I thought it was Luke Bryan instead of Sam Hunt). Even though I got the artist wrong and didn’t say anything pertaining to the song, Danielle immediately said “body like a backroad?” This really freaked me out. Just telepathy, right? BUT THEN…. The next day, me, Kyleigh, Danielle, Chelsea, and Mary are sitting in my room when Michelle says “everything has been so good lately, I hope something bad doesn’t happen to me- like death”. So get this… about an hour later, Michelle’s mom calls her and tells her that her grandpa just had a heart attack. Coincidence or not? After discussing how fucking weird that was, we go on with our day. Now, about last night. I knew it was a bad idea to have a bunch of people over, since I have neighbors living under and next to me, and it was just a Thursday night. But I did it anyways. And everything went swimmingly. So we’re all hanging out with our guy friends, playing flip cup and beer pong, and Joey and I decide to play winner after a couple games- after acknowledging that we both suck at pong. Right after we said that, we won three games until Ady and Michelle beat us. Ady and Michelle won about 5 times, 3 of which they had landed the ball in the same cup in the same round and won the whole game. Freaky, right? So everyone leaves and we’re finishing cleaning up about to go to bed. I’m in the midst of brushing my teeth, and Michelle walks up to me looking very concerned. “I don’t mean to freak you out…” she says, “ but I walked into the kitchen and the fridge was wide open. And neither of us left it open. “I didn’t think it was weird until it had happened three times today already”. Three times? Okay… This freaked me out. Especially since I live alone, no one else could have done it. And especially since this wasn’t the first time this had happened. I had seen the fridge open on its own before, and I had been hearing noises in the house- people walking around, things falling, but no one else was in the house. And when I went to check, nothing had ever fallen on the ground. For a year that I’ve been living here, that had never happened to me until I came back from school. My realization of these reoccurring, unnatural events got me thinking. Is there an alternate presence that is alternating reality? Or that is creating reality? Is there something that is causing these things to happen? Or is it just a coincidence?
