understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
Listened to Robin Ince interviewing Claudia Hammond on the Book Shambles podcast. Claudia talks about going to an 0840 GP appointment and the GP having already seen 7 people already. I was, at that moment, locking up my bike so I could check in for my own 0840 GP appointment.
I had no idea they were going to raise that concept when I had downloaded the podcast that morning.
The coincidence raised a smile. Claudia Hammond liked my tweet about it, but the GP didn't seem bothered...
