understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.

Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.

My brother was browsing in a second-hand bookshop and picked up a golf book that he had been wanting to buy for some time to replace one he had lost. On looking in the front cover he was astonished to find that there was an inscription from our father on the lines of "To Geoff, Happy Christmas 1975, Love Dad". It was not just a copy of the book he had lost, but the actual book itself.
