understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
surprising repetition, friends, family, boyfriends, kids of friends have shared the same birth date as my kids and family but i have never met someone ever that has my birthday (only know of but have never met) birthday coincidence's; father...boyfriend/friends; mother..my great nephew her great grandson; brother...my best female friend of almost 40 yrs; sister...another best female friend of over 25 years;my oldest daughter...my great nephew, kid of old high school friend; my second oldest daughter...her cousin from dads side, my ex brother in law, kids of old high school friends; my youngest daughter...kids of long time friends; all of the above...coworkers "work friends" and two long term relationships that both had the same birthday but different years, these SR's are a running theme my whole life and still happening. i also identified with similar life line with one of my bff's mentioned above, we have a 17 yr age diff, me younger and a boyfriend met later in life raised over a thousand miles away from me, born same year had same interests growing up and experiences both personal and social. simultaneous events i can also relate too. thanks for letting me share! jennifer
