understandinguncertainty.org was produced by the Winton programme for the public understanding of risk based in the Statistical Laboratory in the University of Cambridge. The aim was to help improve the way that uncertainty and risk are discussed in society, and show how probability and statistics can be both useful and entertaining.
Many of the animations were produced using Flash and will no longer work.
Calculates when, where, and how you will die, based on your own estimate of level of fitness today together with your date of birth.
What evidence is used?
It does not give the user any idea of the calculations involved or the body of knowledge on which the final result is based.
Evaluation
It does tell you about other people who have died on the day upon which you too are expected to die.
